Helen L. (Gans) Edwards, 91, of Norton passed away on Saturday August 28, 2010 at the Elmwood Health Center in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph C. Edwards who died on July 14, 2001.
Born in Taunton, MA on June 18, 1919 she was a daughter of the late Edward and Fannie (Campbell) Gans.
Helen grew up in Boston and Norton. She was educated in Norton public schools and had made her home in Norton for most of her life.
A dedicated homemaker to her loving family, Mrs. Edwards was a lifetime member of the Lieutenant Harold A. Healy Post 222 Ladies Auxiliary and the Filmore-Nason VFW Post 8049 Ladies Auxiliary both in Norton. She had also formerly attended the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Norton.
Helen enjoyed dining out, shopping, traveling, taking day trips by way of car and spending time with her adoring family. She always held a special place in her heart for her pet dogs and cats.
She is survived by her devoted children Helen V. Kidd of Attleboro, Joseph G. Edwards of Brighton, Colorado, Roberta I. Lesser of Attleboro, Eleanor R. Cote of Pawtucket, Annette M. Kashimawo of Riverdale, New York and Marcus P. Edwards of Mansfield, Ohio. She is also survived by her cherished 6 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 5 great- great grandchildren and was the loving grandmother of the late Lori A. Cote-Hosford.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday September 2nd at 10:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will follow in the Norton Common Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday September 1st from 4-7 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home. A reception will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours on Wednesday evening at the Norton American Legion 85 East Main St.(Route 123) Norton.
