Obituary

John F. Flynn, 88, of South Weymouth died August 24, 2010 after a long battle with cancer with his loving family by his side. Mr. Flynn was born in South Weymouth and lived his entire life as a South Weymouth resident. In July 1942 he enlisted in the Army and became a Private First Class in the 349th Infantry during World War II and received three Bronze Stars. Post-war, he worked as a Mail Carrier for 31 years and was an avid golfer. John Flynn was the loving husband of 50 years to the late Mary Lou Flynn. He is survived by his devoted brother Philip Flynn of Duxbury, his daughters Helen Shaw and her husband Daniel of Kingston, and Maureen Kelsey of Weymouth. He also leaves six grandchildren Kristen McIver, Suzanne Morrell, Brian Shaw, Ricky Kelsey, Patrick Shaw, Kayla Kelsey and a great grandchild, Shawn McIver. Funeral from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Monday August 30 at 10 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at the St. Francis Xavier Church, 261 Pleasant St. S. Weymouth at 11 A.M. Visiting Hours will be on Sunday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Monday at 1:15 P.M.
