Fred J. Freije, 91, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2010 at the Concord Hospital in Concord, NH after a brief illness. Fred served in the Navy during World War II as a chief Pharmacist's Mate in the Pacific Theater. He was a Registered Pharmacist and owned several pharmacies including Riverside Pharmacy in Lawrence, MA. He later became a prominent real estate developer at a time when many people thought of retiring. A resident of North Andover, MA for many years as well as Biddeford Pool, ME, Fred also lived in Lakeland, FL before relocating to New Hampshire.
He was the son of the late Najim and Catherine (Hyder) Freije of Methuen, MA. and was predeceased by one brother: I. Theodore Freije and four sisters: Adelle Snay, Margaret Kouri, Edna Kawash and Nellie O'Donnell.
Fred was the widower of Dorothy K. (McCarthy) and Rita M. (Daley) (Fitzpatrick) Freije and is survived by his daughter Kathleen and her husband Joseph P. Buckley of Center Barnstead, NH and one grandson: Patrick J. Buckley of Bennington, VT. In addition, Fred is survived by nephews: George Kawash of Canada, Donald Kawash of Philadelphia, PA and one niece: Judith Motley of Hampton Falls, NH. Other family members include stepsons and their wives: Jack and Mary Ann Fitzpatrick of Methuen, MA, Nelson and Theresa Fitzpatrick of Windham, NH and stepdaughter: Sheila Dregne and her husband Darrel of Coventry, RI.
A Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow at the Cemetery on the Hill in Windham, NH. Family and friends may call on Friday, August 27, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
