James Michael Nickerson, of Carver, passed away suddenly on August 21st at home at the age of 63. The beloved father of Kaylin Nickerson of Seattle, WA and Devon and Stasia Nickerson both of OR. He also leaves his long-time companion Susan Macchi of Carver and her children Richard Jr, Michael, Matthew and Juliet; his brothers John C. Nickerson Jr and his wife Nanda of Chelsea, Stephen and his wife Kate of Rockland, Arthur and his wife Mary of Pueblo, CO and Mark and his wife Paula of TN; his sisters Michele Ryan and her companion, Frank White of Quincy, Linda Leavitt and her husband Kenneth of Marshfield, Catherine Nickerson and her husband Ted Lambrecht of Nantucket, Maryanne Nickerson of Eastham and Jean Nickerson of Marshfield and a very large and loving extended family and friends. After graduation from Boston Trade, Jim served in the U.S. Army for two years. Jim worked at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University for thirty-five years. He embraced life with a love of music, canoeing, biking, kayaking, collecting antiques and he especially loved everything to do with nature and the outdoors. Jim was a natural teacher, a skilled craftsman, and has many close and dear friends. He will be forever remembered as a sensitive, charismatic and generous man. A graveside service will be held at the Mass. National Cemetery in Bourne on Monday August 30th at 11:15 am. Funeral procession will leave Richard Davis Funeral Home at 10am. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 29th at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St (Rt 3A), N. Plymouth from 4 to 8 PM.
