Robert F. Ward, 74, of Franklin died August 23 in Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston; he was the husband of Maureen E. (Tigue) Ward.
Born in Dorchester, July 19, 1936, the son of the late Francis A. and Beatrice (Walton) Ward, Mr. Ward was a lifelong Franklin resident.
Mr. Ward was a graduate of Franklin High School and attended Dean Jr. College in Franklin.
Mr. Ward had worked for the Ford Motor Company regional office in Southboro as the Building Maintenance Manager for five years before retiring.
He had previously had worked for General Motors in Framingham as a supervisor and had previously to that been a manager of Star Supermarkets in Franklin and throughout the local area.
Following his retirement at Ford, Bob worked part-time at the Hannaford’s supermarket in Milford.
Mr. Ward was member rof the Franklin Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Council 1847, and had been a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin.
He had been a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. He loved to cook, play golf, travel, and be with his grandchildren.
Mr. Ward served in the Air Force during the late 1950’s.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Robert F. Ward Jr. and his wife Gayle of Franklin, Terrance M. Ward and his wife Maryanne of Wrentham and Brendan D. Ward of Franklin.
Mr. Ward is also survived by his brother, Robert Rheaume of Littleton and his grandchildren, Robert F. Ward III, Julianna J. Ward, Jessica M. Ward and Terrance M. Ward Jr.
His funeral will be held on Monday, August 30 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin at 9:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 5-8 p.m.
