GLOUCESTER: Donald F. “Donnie” Elwell, 49, died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 21, 2010. He was the husband of Lillian R. (Pallazola) Elwell and father of David J. Elwell, E4 (Sr. Airman) in the U.S.A.F.
Born in Gloucester on March 22, 1961, he was the son of Edith L. “Edie” (Cameron) Parisi and the late James R. Elwell. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1979.
Donnie had been employed by Americold Logistics for over thirty years.
An avid Boston sports fan, he enjoyed the Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots and Bruins. However, his greatest joy came from watching his son, David, and his friends play baseball and softball or any other sport they were playing at the time. He had also played softball for many years in the Sunday Morning Industrial Softball League. He loved his dog, Griffey, who was his best friend, and enjoyed spending time with him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, mother and son, he is survived by his stepfather, Joseph J. Parisi, his siblings, Robert, husband of Nancy Elwell, Mark, husband of Linda Elwell, Ronda Elwell; mother-in-law, Margie Pallazola; sister-in-law, Maria, wife of Brian Glidden; brother-in-law, Joseph, husband of Marian Pallazola; nieces and nephews, Crystal, Jenna, Benjamin, Mark, Alyssa and Michael Elwell, Paula Maye and Pauline Mullins, Jill, wife of Jeffrey Surprenant, Michael Pallazola, Haley and Jesse Glidden, a great-nephew, Jakob Lopes and great-nieces, Samantha, Emily and Madeline Surprenant, as well as many dear friends. He was also predeceased by his father-in-law, Jerome Pallazola and sister-in-law, Vinnie Pallazola.
His memorial service will be held on Thursday morning in the Trinity Congregational Church at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Please omit flowers.
