Virginia M. Alig age 84 of Metamora, Illinois passed away at 5:45am Friday August 20, 2010 at Snyder Village in Metamora. She was born March 26, 1926 in Peoria, Illinois to James and Ruth (Michael) Eaton. She married Colman W. Alig June 20, 1946 in Peoria. He passed away April 27, 2004.
Surviving are her children; Mary (Tony) Snyder, Stephen (Mary) Alig, Ronald (Jan) Alig, and William (Julie) Alig all of Metamora. Eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother Francis Eaton of Peoria Heights. She was preceded in death by one son Carl Alig, one brother and two sisters.
Virginia was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society. She was also a member of Metamora Womens Club and American Legion Auxiliary.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am Monday Aug. 23, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora. Father Don Roszkowski officiating. Visitation will be Sunday Aug. 22, 2010 from 3pm until 5pm at the Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with recitation of the Rosary will be at 5pm. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Metamora.
