Obituary

WORCESTER-Paul W. Noone, 84, of Worcester, died Thursday, August 19th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Margaret A. (Connor) Noone; four sons, Paul Noone and his wife Barbara, Thomas Noone and his wife Suzanne, Andrew Noone and his wife Elizabeth and John Noone, all of Worcester; a daughter, Mary Lacaire and her husband Steven of West Boylston; eight grandchildren, Robert, Paul, Jacqueline, Katy, Alison, David and Julia Noone and Matthew Lacaire; two great grandchildren, Brendan and Logan Noone. His son Robert M. Noone, Sr. passed away last year.
Mr. Noone was born in Worcester, the son of William Paul and Bridget (Curristine) Noone. He received his Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College and was a graduate of Worcester State College and the former Worcester Junior College. Mr. Noone served as a probation officer in the Worcester Central District Court for many years and had previously been a truant officer and Worcester Firefighter. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Noone’s destroyer escort, the USS Nickel, was the first responder to shark victims of the infamous USS Indianapolis tragedy. Mr. Noone was a member of Christ the King Church, where he was a lector, and was a founding member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church. He was also a member of the Sodality of Our Lady at Holy Cross and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Mr. Noone was an avid swimmer. His family wishes to thank all of his caregivers, especially the staff at Rose Monahan Hospice Home, the oncology unit at UMass Memorial Hospital and the staff at Parsons Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The funeral is Monday, August 23rd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, August 22nd from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Worcester Boys & Girls Club, 65 Tainter Street, Worcester, MA 01610 or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 507 Park Avenue, Worcester, MA 01603.
