Obituary

GLOUCESTER: William R. “Billy” Anderson, 50, died early Monday morning, August 16, 2010 in the Golden Living Center following an extended illness.
Born in Gloucester on August 2, 1960, he was the son of the late Howard W. and Eleanor F. (Boris) Anderson.
Billy was employed for several local businesses in the general Gloucester area over the last 35 years in which he held positions of auto mechanic and delivery person up until his health declined in 2005.
He thoroughly enjoyed traveling and camping throughout New England and especially enjoyed his bi-annual trips to Lancaster Pennsylvania to pick up “shoo-fly pies” for anyone who wanted one.
Billy loved to watch and cheer on his nephews throughout their sporting events and would never miss a game even though his health was not always the best.
He was extremely fond of antique cars and cherished the times he was able to host car events in Gloucester, which is something that resulted in many long lasting friendships.
Billy was an extremely kind-hearted person who would always put a smile on the face of anyone he held a conversation with. He would be the first one to lend a helping hand when someone needed it.
He is survived by his three brothers and sisters-in-law, Edwin and Gina Anderson of Kailua, Hawaii, Robert and Elizabeth Anderson of Essex, Peter and Gina Anderson of Gloucester; four nephews, Brian W., Scott E., and Mark R. Anderson all of Gloucester and Stephen Anderson of Kailua, HI.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday afternoon in the Seaside Cemetery, Lanesville at 12 p.m. Visiting hours will be held on Monday evening in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
