Trum of Brockton Nov. 22, 2003 Richard J. “Dick” Trum 87 years. Husband of the late Rose M. (Ossipoff) Trum. Father of Mrs. John (Jean) Gilbert, Linda Kruger and Richard J. Trum, III all of Brockton. Grandfather of Tammy Goldfisher, Daniel Gilbert, Michael & Scott Kruger, Derek and Jessica Trum. Also survived by three great grandchildren.
Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Wed. at 9 am. Funeral Mass in St. Colman Church at 10 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 pm.
Obituary
Mr. Trum died Saturday evening at the Brockton Hospital following a period of failing health. He was born in Brockton son of the late Richard J. and Florence (Rose) Trum and was raised by Mary Emma Allen. He was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1936 and also graduated from the National Diesel and Gas Engineering School in Los Angeles, CA.
He retired as Chief Relocation Officer for the Brockton Redevelopment Authority. For many years he had been employed by Parisian Cleaners in Brockton. Previously he was a marine engineer in Massachusetts shipyards.
Mr. Trum was a founder and member for over 50 years of the East Side Improvement Association. He was a past president, a board of director and coached junior baseball.
Mr. Trum was involved in city politics for many years. In 1961 he was first elected to the Brockton City Council and served as president in 1967. He served on numerous committees including recreation, finance, license, public safety and veterans affairs. He had been a member of Ward 5 Democratic Committee, Plymouth County and State Democratic Committees.
For many years he was involved with the Boy Scouts, and was past president of Self-Help.
He was a longtime communicant of St. Colman Church and had been a member of its Holy Name Society.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, one son, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren
