Louis Edelstein, 82, of Tiverton, RI and formerly of Peabody, MA passed away on August 16, 2010 in Fall River, MA. Louis was born and raised in Peabody, and attended the Peabody Schools. He was a long time resident of Peabody, until recently moving to Rhode Island. Louis was a detective photographer and a police officer for 32 years. He was a life member of the Mt. Olivet Masonic Lodge in Cambridge, MA and the Jordan Masonic Lodge in Peabody, MA. Louis was also a member of the Shrine’s Aleppo Temple. He was an active member of the North Shore Model Railroad Club, and a member of the Marblehead Submarine Veterans Holland Club. Louis was the grandson of a founding member of Cong. Sons of Israel in Peabody. Along with the late John T. McNulty, Lou was the proprietor of Embossing Machine Services.
Louis was the beloved husband of Arlene (Cohen) Edelstein. He was the devoted father of Adria Edelstein, Alan Edelstein, Myra Edelstein and the late Shayna Golda Edelstein. Louis was the loving son of late Joseph and Elizabeth Edelstein. He was the dear brother of Murray Edelstein and Nancy Kritzman. He was the loving grandfather of Alanna, David, and Joseph. Louis is also survived by 3 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at the Maple Hill Cemetery, Lowell St., Peabody, on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Donations in his memory may be made to the Charlton Memorial Hospital, 363 Highland Ave. Fall River, MA 02720.
