Obituary

Edmund W. Sweeney, 95, of Medway and formerly of Waltham died August 13 in his home; he was the husband of Rosalie A. (Smith) Sweeney for the past 65 years.
Born in Waltham, June 25, 1915, the son of the late Thomas and Clara (Fournier) Sweeney, Mr. Sweeney had lived in Waltham all his life prior to moving to Medway 2 years.
Mr. Sweeney had been a mechanic for the City of Waltham for many years before retiring.
He had previously worked as a custodian for the City of Waltham School Department and many years ago he operated an Amoco Gas station in Cambridge and Jenney Gas Station in Brookline.
Mr. Sweeney served in the Navy during World War II attaining the rank of Machinist Mate First Class.
He was a member of the Waltham VFW and American Legion Posts.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Maureen Ann Meyer and her husband Donald of Medway.
He is also survived his sisters, Beverley Ferrulo of New York and Theresa McCauley of Waltham. He was the brother of the late Thomas, Calvin, James Sweeney and Gertrude Mahoney.
He is also survived by his granddaughter, Michelle Richardson and her husband Douglas of New Jersey and his great-grandchildren, Noah and Rosalie Richardson.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, August 19 in St. Joseph Church in Medway at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:00-10:45 in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway.
