Obituary

Kenneth Rayford King, 80, of Ty Ty died Friday, August 13, 2010, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 16, 2010, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Gary Hartman and Rev. Jim Duggan will officiate with burial to follow in Ty Ty Baptist Church Cemetery. Chad Purvis, Donnie Purvis, Bryan Rackley, Eric Murphy, Jerry Minshew, Brandon King and Chris Sensing will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 15, 2010, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. King was born on August 21, 1929 in Villa Rica and was the son of Alonzo B. King and Henrietta Duke King, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one son, Sammy Hogan; one granddaughter, Amanda Jean Walters; five brothers, Lenvil King, Roy King, Neal King, Ray King, and Dolan King; and two sisters, Nina Hartman and Nell Farmer. He was a 35-year resident of Ty Ty and a retired industrial craftsman. He was also a United States Army veteran and of the Baptist faith.

Mr. King is survived by his wife, Betty Fender King of Ty Ty, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard and Annette Hogan of Belmont, Mississippi, Steve and Leecy Hogan of Martinez and Timothy King of Columbus; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Shirley Murphy of Ty Ty, Martha Easterling of Taylorsville, Mississippi, Gail and Loren Rackley of Columbus and Teresa and Donnie Purvis of Tifton; one daughter-in-law, Frankie Hogan of Augusta; one sister, Kathleen Meadows of Columbus; 24 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
