Laconia-----Lawrence “Larry” F. McCrea, 72, of 39 Bowman Street, died at his home on Thursday, August 12, 2010 surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born September 20, 1937 in Laconia, N.H., the son of George H. and Alice (Vander Harst) McCrea. He was a lifelong resident of Laconia and graduated from Laconia High School in 1955.
Larry served in the U.S. Navy and had been employed by the State of New Hampshire D.O.T. for thirty-five years before retiring in 1993.
Larry was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Laconia. He was a life member and former trustee of the Laconia Lodge of Elks # 876 and was a member of the American Legion Wilkins-Smith Post #1 S.A.L.
For many years, he was the statistician for the Belmont High School Baseball Team.
Larry was a devoted husband and family man. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Adrienne (Legare) McCrea, of Laconia; four sons, Gary W. McCrea and his wife, Debra, of Laconia, Shawn P. McCrea of Dover, Kevin M. McCrea and his significant other, Monica, of Laconia, Brett S. McCrea and his significant other, Bernardine, of Laconia; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Robert A. McCrea, Sr. of Laconia; several nephews and nieces and special friends, Marilyn & Paul Lamere. In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by a brother, George E. McCrea.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 16, 2010 from 5:00-8:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H. The Laconia Lodge of Elks will conduct a Session of Sorrow at 6:00PM during the calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 10:00AM at Blessed Andre Bessette Parish, St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, N.H.
