Robert W. Noyes Sr. of Danvers, MA died August 11, 2010 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his family after a lengthy courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Haverhill on May 27, 1933, he was the son of the late Clifford and Helen (MacDonald) Noyes. Mr. Noyes was raised and educated in Danvers. He was a graduate of the Holten High School in Danvers.
Mr. Noyes worked for the First National/Finast Grocery stores for 40 years. He also worked for the Purity Supreme Grocery Chain for a number of years. After retiring from Purity Supreme, Mr. Noyes was employed by Danvers Savings Bank, now Danversbank, as a courier for 10 years.
Mr. Noyes served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an avid golfer who played faithfully every Sunday. He enjoyed bowling as well, bowling on teams for the Maple Street and Merchant leagues at the Sunnyside Bowladrome in Danvers for many years. Mr. Noyes loved sports, watching every kind of sport there was on television. He especially liked the Red Sox and Patriots.
Mr. Noyes is survived by a wife of 54 years, Joan (Jedrey); three sons Robert W. Jr. and his wife Trish, William Sr. and his wife Maureen, and Kevin and his wife Ann; six grandchildren Robert III, William Jr., Adam, Katelyn, Zachary and Benjamin Noyes; one great grandchild Robert W. Noyes IV; four sisters Betty, Margie, Carol and Sandra; two brothers Harry and Donald; many caring nieces and nephews and one special nephew on his wife’s side Scott Jedrey and his son Matthew. He was predeceased by three brothers, Clifford Jr., Richard and Charles.
Visiting Hours will be held Mon., Aug 16, 2010 from 4-7PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. There are no other funeral services.
