Obituary

Norma Sarah (Abood) Toney of Melrose, passed away on August 8, 2010. She was 85 years old.

Norma most loved spending time with her family, playing the piano, writing lyrics and music for many songs, cooking, baking, painting and living life fully. With a joyful heart, she sang throughout her life in Antiochian Orthodox Church choirs in West Roxbury and in Bridgeville and New Kensington, PA. She was Assistant to the Dean of Jackson College and the History Department during her 17 year tenure at Tufts University in Medford, where she also taught a Continuing Education course in Middle Eastern cooking. Once retired, she enjoyed vacations with her husband, visits with her grandchildren and challenging crossword puzzles.

Norma was the dear and devoted wife of Salem Toney and the loving mother of Vivian Toney, Sandra Myatt and her husband Leonard, Elaine Dreyer and the late Linda Rahme Toney. Adoring Grandmother “Sita” of Lucas Dreyer and his wife Kati, Paul Dreyer, Paige Myatt and Angeli Myatt. Norma is also survived by her great-grandson, Brandon Charles Dreyer and by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. She is the loving sister of Audrey Bowman, Jeanne Hess and Albert Abood. Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Miriam (Antion) Abood.

Norma's Funeral Service was held Thursday August 12, 2010 at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church 55 Emmonsdale Rd. WEST ROXBURY.

Interment concluded services at St. George Cemetery in Bridgeville, PA.
