Lorraine I. (Wedge) Babb, 82 years, of Brockton died Friday August 6, 2010 at St. Joseph Manor after a brief illness. Born in Brockton, a daughter of the late Aaron and Irene (Belanger) Wedge. Lorraine remained a life long resident of the city. She had attended the Boston School for the Deaf and was a devoted mother to her eight children. She enjoyed watching wrestling and football especially Brockton High School and the Patriots. Lorraine also bowled at Maple Alleys and Westgate Lanes and enjoyed trips with the Mater Dei Senior Group. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children George E. Babb of E. Bridgewater; Jeanne Andrews and her husband Clyde of Foxboro; Joan Furtado and her friend George Hamilton of Bridgewater; Carol Babb of Brockton; Larry Babb of Taunton; James Babb of Brockton and Debbie Hurwitz and her husband Steven of Brockton and the late John Babb; 11 grandchildren Lynne, Jenny, John,Scott, Stephanie, Jessica, Casey, Adam,Shelbi, Hailee and James; 8 greatgrandchildren; three brothers Edmund Wedge and Robert Wedge and his wife Sue both of Brockton and Roger Wedge and his wife Justine of Quincy; dear friend Jean Moore of Brockton. She was the sister of the late Norman Wedge and sister in law of the late Arlene, Carol and Francine Wedge. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Gathering will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 9 am with a Service of Celebration at 9:30 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Donations in memory of Lorraine may be made to Mater Dei Day Program, 250 Thatcher St. Brockton, MA 02302.
