Obituary

WEBSTER – Aniela M. “Nellie” (Jezak) Sowa, 94, died Sunday, August 8, 2010 at home. Her husband of 34 years, Edward Frank Sowa, died in 1974.

She was born on March 14, 1916 in Lowell, MA of Polish immigrants Ambrozy Jezak and Sophia (Molda) Jezak. She was raised there, lived in Westborough from 1939 to 1984, and moved to Webster in 1985. She was a graduate of Lowell High School.

Nellie leaves a daughter, Irene Sowa; 2 sons, Edward George Sowa and his wife Carol of North Grafton and Charles Henry Sowa of Hadley; 2 granddaughters, Michelle Koren of Ohio and Cynthia Sowa-Forgit of Massachusetts; 2 great grandchildren, Samantha Forgit, age 5, and Jack Forgit, age 4. She was predeceased by 4 brothers and sisters.

Nellie was a licensed practical nurse at Westborough State Hospital in Westborough before retiring in 1971. She was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica and a former member of Saint Luke the Evangelist Church in Westborough.

The funeral will be held Thursday, August 12, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St. Burial will be in Saint Luke’s Cemetery, Westborough. A calling hour will be from 8:15 to 9:30 AM Thursday, August 12, in the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or donations be made to the Friends of Saint Joseph School Fund, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster, MA 01570.
