Donald F. O'Brien, 76, of Londonderry, NH, died Tuesday, November 18, 2003 in Hillsborough County Nursing Home, Goffstown, NH. Mr. O'Brien was born in Cambridge, MA on August 18, 1927, a son of the late James E. and Irene (Zocchi) O'Brien. He was a resident of Londonderry for 24 years, formerly living in Somerville, MA. Mr. O'Brien attended St. Joseph's School in Somerville and then graduated from Somerville High School, Class of 1945. He was a WWII veteran of the US Coast Guard. Mr. O'Brien graduated from Fisher Business School, Somerville and later graduated from Northeastern University, Boston, MA, Class of 1958. He was employed for over 35 years by several railroad companies, including Missouri Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of American Legion Post #27 in Londonderry and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #6949 in Londonderry. He was also a communicant of St. Jude Parish, Londonderry.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine R. (Moriarty) O'Brien of Londonderry, one son, Timothy J. O'Brien of Tucson, AZ, one daughter, Suzanne Brunelle of Londonderry, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, one brother, Warren J. O'Brien of Hull, MA and Long Boat Key, FL, two sisters, Claire Horrigan of Somerville, MA, Rosanne Belin of Cambridge, MA, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 22nd at 10:00am in St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry. Friends may call on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, NH Chapter, 10 Ferry Street, Suite 427B, Concord, NH 03301 (earmark for research).
