Obituary

LEICESTER;Mrs. Ovsanna "Nana" "Roseanne"(DerVartanian) Nordigian 98 of 835 Pleasant St., in the Rochdale section of Leicester died Thursday Nov. 13 at The Meadows of Leicester. Her husband Bedros Nordigian died in 1972. She is survived by two daughters Beatrice E. Nordigian of Worcester and Mary K. Connor of Oxford, a grandaughter Mary K. Burlingame of Charlton, two great grandsons Sean M. Burlingame of Houston, Tx., and Kevin P. Burlingame of Charlton, including the Menzigian Family and many close friends. A daughter Gladys K. Nordigian died in 1994.

Born in Tadem Harpoot, Armenia, she was the daughter of Bedros and Khatoon (Giragosian) DerVartanian and immigrated to the U.S. after fleeing the Armenian Genocide inflicted by the Ottoman Turks (1915-23). Mrs. Nordigian worked at MKM Hosery Mills in Rochdale for 32 years, retiring in 1968. She was a member of the Armenina Church of Our Savior and its Womens Guild, the Leicester Friends of the Elders, and the Senior Citizen Club of Leicester. She knitted many afghans and donated them to the Nazareth Home for Boys, St. Anne's Church in Oxford, Memorial Hopsital Neo-natal Unit and many friends. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and crochet.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday Nov. 18 at 11a.m. in the Armenian Church of Our Savior, 87 Salisbury St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours at the Morrison-Morin Funeral Home, 1131 Main St., Leicester are Monday from 5 to 7p.m. A Dhangark Service will be held Monday at 6p.m. in the funeral home.
