Lynne Dewey Towner Olsson was born in the University of Chicago Hospital on April 19, 1939, and died at the Glen Ridge Health Campus on August 3, 2010. She is survived by her husband Donald M. Olsson and their son, Scott Towner Olsson. She attended Oak Lawn and Carl Sandburg high schools in the Chicago area. She graduated with a BA from Grinnell College, Grinnell, IA with a major in biology. It was at Grinnell that she met her future husband, Don. They married in 1961 and Lynne worked in a cytogenetics laboratory at NC State University while Don attended graduate school. Don accepted a position at GE Appliance park & they moved to Louisville, KY in 1965.
Lynne worked for a time at Boone Gardner Nursery as a gal Friday. She boarded a horse at Big Ten Farm east of Middletown & took several rides with the owner showing him some of the prettiest areas she had found on his 600 acre property. The farm has now become Valhalla Golf Course.
The family moved to a farm in SE Jefferson County in 1975. It was there that Lynne started breeding, raising, training & giving riding lessons on her quarter horses. Her 1st love. She and her husband retired in 1995.
Lynne was a member of Middletown Methodist Church. Lynne’s wishes are no services, cremation & her ashes to be joined with her father and mother in a cemetery in the Chicago, IL area.
