Wiegel , Marjorie Evelyn 83 of Louisville, beloved wife and mother, passed away Sunday July 25, 2010.
Peggy was born in Evanston, Illinois. She met and married
her husband, John Edgar Wiegel in Chicago during WW II. Her family settled in Louisville in 1968 where she raised her 5 children in Anchorage.
She was owner of The Framemaker’s Gallery and Autohaus Ltd. She was very active with her children’s schools, Catholic Charities and continued to support her causes throughout her life. Peggy was a long-time member of Owl Creek Country Club and The Jefferson Club. She was a founding member of Epiphany Catholic Church and her faith sustained her through her illness until her death. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children John E. Wiegel, infant daughter Catherine, daughter-in-law, Caryl, and her second husband John Serpell.
She is survived by her children Mark C. Wiegel (Tiffany), John C. Wiegel (Diane), Mary E. Davis (Roger), Eric M. Wiegel (Gayle), Jane E. Kottkamp (Stephen).
Her grandchildren Ross, Lexie, Maddie, Grace Wiegel; Taylor and Mackenzie Davis; Evelyn and Emily Wiegel; Fenton, Rush, and Harrison Kottkamp.
Some of the most memorable things about Peggy were her sense of humor and elegance. She always did things in good spirits and with great style. As she often said, “her cup runneth over.”
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the nurses and aids of Paradise Island at the Masonic Home for their care.
A memorial mass to celebrate Peggy’s life will be held 10 am Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Old Harrods Creek Road, with a gathering following at church from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Peggy will be buried next to her husband, John E. at Cave Hill Cemetery in a private ceremony.
