Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Philip J. “McGee” Parisi, 78, of 31 Prospect Street, died Monday, August 2, 2010 in the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Virginia M. (D’Alessandro) Parisi who died in 2004.
Born in Gloucester on January 4, 1932, he was the son of the late Filipo and Providenza Parisi. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was honorably discharged in July 1959.
Philip was employed as a commercial fisherman along with his family aboard the vessels, “Annamarie”, “St. Cabrina”, “Heroic” and lastly the “St. Mary” for several years before his retirement in 1993. He was a member of the St. Peter’s Club and the Capt. Lester S. Wass Post # 3, American Legion. A devoted father, he was dedicated to his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was well respected and an extremely generous man.
He is survived by his children, Gina M. and her husband, Todd Wingerter of Stamford, CT, Philip M. Parisi of Amesbury, Linda D. Scola of Magnolia and Donna M. and her husband, Barry Legendre of Gloucester, his longtime companion, Terry A. Mountain and her children, Joseph, Samantha and Thomas Mountain, six grandchildren, Melissa Draper, Joshua and Ashley Rutan, Marissa Parisi and Alexa and Kailey Wingerter, two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Mia Draper, a brother, Joseph and his wife, Jenny Parisi and a sister, Nina Curcuru all of Gloucester and among the many loving nieces and nephews are special nieces, Pearl Parisi, Florence Martin, Florence Mahoney, Rosalie Orlando, Annmarie Fitzgerald, Kathleen Giamanco, Diane Rodolosi, Lillian Elwell and Maria Glidden and special nephews, Stephen, Philip and Manny Demetri and Joseph Pallazola, three sisters-in-law, Angie and Mary Parisi and Marjorie Pallozola, a brother-in-law, Angelo Pasquale and his lifetime childhood friend, Joseph Puccio of Gloucester. He was also predeceased by two sons, Michael P. Parisi and James S. Garofalo, a son-in-law, Peter Scola, six brothers, Salvatore and his wife, Grace Parisi, John and his wife, Clothilda Parisi, Anthony Parisi, Paul Parisi, Ambrose and his wife, Jean Parisi and Nicholas Parisi, three sisters, Phyllis Hubbard, Frances and her husband, Gus Demetri and Grace Pasquale and a brother-in-law, Thomas Curcuru.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment with military honors will be held in the Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
