SALEM - Katherine D. O’Brien, 94, formerly of Salem and wife of the late Glenn F. O’Brien, died Wednesday evening July 28, 2010, at the Ledgewood Rehabilitation Center in Beverly with her family by her side.
Born in Topsfield, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Helen E. (Andrews) Gerry. She was a graduate of Topsfield High School class of 1933 and graduated from Salem Commercial School.
Mrs. O’Brien was employed in banking for 20 years, first with the Boston Federal Savings and later in customer service with the Salem Five in Vinnin Square where she retired in the late 1980’s.
Mrs. O’Brien is survived by two sons, Glenn F. O’Brien Jr., of Danvers, G.Gerry O’Brien of Berkeley California, a daughter, Anne D. Ahern and son-in-law Thomas P. Ahern of Melrose with whom she resided, three grandchildren, Cameron A. Judge, Brendan T. Ahern, and Emily A. Lusas, and four great-grandchildren all of Melrose. She is also survived by her brother David C. Gerry of Ipswich and several nieces and nephews.
