Raymond V. Andreasen, 67

Dateline: Norton, MA

Raymond V. Andreasen, 67, of Norton passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, in the comfort of his home on Sunday August 1, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Janet L. (Wilson) Andreasen to whom he was wed for the past 40 years.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island on September 24, 1942 he was a son of the late Elmer and Alice (O’Brien) Andreasen.
Ray grew up in Providence and was a graduate of LaSalle Academy where he was a standout member of the basketball team and was selected for the All State Basketball Team. During the Vietnam War he honorably served in the United States Air Force and whiling serving was a member of the Air Force basketball team. He later attended Rhode Island College.
Mr. Andreasen had been employed as a Telephone Co. Lineman and after working over thirty years retired from Verizon in Foxboro.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, Ray had made his home in Norton for the past 34 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Boston and especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife he is survived by his devoted son Michael W. Andreasen and his wife Dona of Norton and was the father of the late Paul R. Andreasen. He was the adoring grandfather of Zachary and Nicholas Andreasen of Norton and was the brother of Robert Andreasen of Providence, R.I., Arlene Bilodeau of East Providence, R.I. and Rita Crook of Wakefield, R.I. Mr. Andreasen is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Thursday August 5th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 1 Power St. Norton. Burial with military honors will follow in the Norton Common Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday August 4th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
In lieu of flowers, Raymond’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Paul R. Andreasen Scholarship Fund, care of North Easton Savings Bank 25 West Main St. Norton, MA 02766 or Old Colony Hospice One Credit Union Way Randolph, MA 02368.
