Obituary

Worcester: John D. Tripp, Jr., 93, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Doris E. (Backman) Tripp, two sons John D. Tripp III and his wife Pam of Worcester, and Gary P. Tripp and Christina A. Martin of Hollis NH; two grandchildren, Kristine Healy and Michael Tripp; six great-grandchildren Patrick, Alysha, Tiffany, Katelynn, Shannon, and Brianna; a brother, William Tripp of Marlboro; two first cousins, Richard MacIver of Marlboro and Rebecca Lore of Sutton; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Tripp and four sisters, Barbara Callaghan, Ruth Correa, Marion Lacombe, and Francis Freel.

John was born in Littleton, NH, son of Catherine (MacIver) and John D. Tripp, Sr. He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He worked for many years as a machinist at Norton Co. and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. John enjoyed camping, spending time with family and friends at his camp in Templeton, MA, puttering for hours in his tool shed, and taking great pride in repairing all things mechanical. John was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 5th, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will be at All Faiths Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 41 Whitmarsh Ave., Worcester MA 01606. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, directed arrangements.
