MR. JAMES W. “JAKE” IVEY, JR.
Evans – Mr. James W. “Jake” Ivey, Jr., beloved husband of Wanda Ivey, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 26, 2010 at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Warren Baptist Church with Dr. David McKinley officiating. Burial will be private in Lincolnton, GA.
Mr. Ivey was a proud graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. He was a deacon at Warren Baptist Church, and a lifetime director of the Builders’ Association of Metro Augusta. He built homes for 26 years and strived to make the CSRA a better place for all. He was very active in many local civic organizations and was a strong supporter of Columbia County and Augusta.

In addition to his wife, Wanda, he is survived by his sons, Mark Ivey (Sonia), and Matt Ivey (Lauren), his five grandchildren, Morgan Ivey, Laney Ivey, Will Ivey, James Ivey and Claire Ivey. He is also survived by his four brothers, Charles Ivey (Ann), John Allen Ivey (Alice), Wade Ivey (Judy) and Grady Ivey, and two sisters, Mary Alice Blanton and Charlotte Long (John).
He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. Ivey Sr. and Ruth Teasley Ivey, and his step mother, Sarah Ivey.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, with the Deacons from Warren Baptist Church being honorary pallbearers.
If so desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jake Ivey to Warren Baptist Church, 3203 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30907 and used for causes he supported.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, July 28, 2010 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
