Obituary

Alice J. (Lund) Ohristo, daughter of the late Carl and Jennie (Hallberg) Lund, died on Friday, July 23, 2010 surrounded by her loving family at Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehab Center. She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer O. Ohristo. She is survived by her children: Judith and her husband, Dennis Lipofsky of Palm City, FL; David and his wife, Christine of Charlton, MA; Donna and her husband, Edward Burgess of Raymond, NH; and Susan and her husband, Dean Messier of Sutton, MA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Steven, Susan, and Robert Lipofsky; Taryn Ohristo-Barros and her husband, Wellington; Julia Ohristo; Mark Burgess and his wife, Laura; Jason, Rachel, Kevin, Joshua, Daniel, and Sarah Burgess; and Allison, Emily, and Erin Messier. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Gordon Reuell.

Alice graduated from Auburn High School, Framingham State Teachers College, and Fitchburg State College with her masters degree. She was a special education teacher in Berlin, MA for many years. Alice belonged to the MA Retired Teachers Association and the Southern Worcester County Teachers Association. She was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in West Boylston and remained active in the church until her illness. During retirement, Alice was an avid knitter and shared her skills by teaching knitting at the WB Senior Center and Holy Trinity. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Her loving and generous spirit touched many lives. Alice’s family would like to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Holy Trinity for their compassionate care and support.

A memorial service to celebrate Alice’s life will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Church, 112 Crescent Street, West Boylston. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at Christ Lutheran Church. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, is directing arrangements.
