Obituary

Killeen, James T. “Jim” Jr., of Marshfield, died July 22, 20l0, at his home surrounded by his family after a brief period of declining health. Jim was born in South Boston, MA. May l7, l9l8 to James and Ellen (Donahue) Killeen. Jim was predeceased by his loving wife Eleanor “Mickey” Killeen in November 2008. They were married for 66 years. Dear father of Patricia Dowd of So. Boston, Donna Gilraine of Norwell, Ginny Whoriskey of Duxbury and Jim Killeen III of Derry, NH. Loving grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Brother of the late Donald, George, Edward and Kenneth Killeen.
Since l98l Jim was a winter resident of Marco Island, FL. He was a graduate of Boston English High School and Northeastern University where he earned his degree in Electrical Engineering in l950. At l8 years of age he began employment with the Boston Edison Co. After a few years, Jim took a leave to join the US Army Air Corps Glider Group where performed admirably as a training Staff Sgt. during WWII. He also played football for the US Army football team. After the war ended he returned to Boston Edison and rose to the position of Senior Executive Manager of the Boston Metropolitan Division where he was responsible for all of Boston Edison’s overhead and underground operations covering Eastern Massachusetts. Jim retired in l98l after a heralded 45 year career, proudly keeping the lights on in Eastern MA. Jim loved playing the guitar with family and friends, volunteering countless hours playing music at local nursing homes with his Thursday night music group. He thoroughly enjoyed golf, particularly his 2 “hole in ones” and his Knights of Columbus “Sportsman of the Year Award”. Jim loved spending time in Florida with his wife Mickey and enjoyed family gatherings at his Marshfield Beach Home which was the center of activity for his family for many years. He was a true gentleman, a tremendous father, grandfather, and a caring loving husband. Jim provided full time care and loving support to his wife Mickey in her later years.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday July 27, at 10:00 AM at St Ann By the Sea Church, 587 Ocean St. Marshfield.
Interment to follow in the Couch Cemetery Marshfield.
