Obituary

ARMENIO, Vincent son of the late Rose (nee Leo) and Peter Armenio went to heaven on July 21, 2010. Born October 17, 1920 in Catolica Errecclea, Italy. He came to the US as a teenager escaping the clutches of fascism during the great depression. Interrupting his studies at Brooklyn College, Vincent served in the US Army Intelligence Corp from 1941 to 1945 posing as a baker in a remote village in Abuzzi, Italy. Unfortunately Vincent’s true identity was discovered by Fascist and Nazi sympathizers. He was detained in a Nazi prison camp in Germany before, as he tearfully recounted 50 years later, fought his way out to safety. After World War II Vincent uncovered a counter fitting and embezzling ring while working for the US State Department. After receiving a degree in Political Science and Romance Languages, Vincent worked as a social worker in Harlem. During the 1950’s Vincent was a US diplomat stationed in Naples, Italy. Enjoying people he became an avid salesman for Kohl and Madden Printing Ink Company, retiring at the age of 85. Vincent devoted his time and energy to his family, inspiring his children and grandchildren to be hardworking, steadfast and kind. Vincent is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Angela (nee Delisi). Loving brother of Frank Armenio of Wayne. Devoted father of the very reverend Father Peter Armenio of Chicago, Illinois; Rosanne Kiley and her husband John of Bethel, Ct.; Marion Scianculepore and husband Joseph of West Milford; Dr. Vincent Armenio and his wife Jennifer of Rehoboth, MA. Loving grandfather of Adam, Eric and Allison Knowles of West Milford; James, Steven and Rachael Kiley of Bethel, CT.; Vincent and Penelope Armenio of Rehoboth, MA. Many nieces, nephews and lifelong friendships. Funeral Mass Saturday, 11AM at St. Joseph's RC Church, Oradell, NJ. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. Friends and family may visit Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell.
