Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, July 20, 2010, Lucille Ford Turbyfill, 88, wife of the late Robert Reeves Turbyfill Sr.
Mrs. Turbyfill was born in Rock Hill SC. She was a graduate of Rock Hill High School in 1939, where she was a member of the Student Council and the Beta Club. Mrs. Turbyfill moved from Rock Hill to work at Oliver General Hospital, during WWII. She was in retail sales for JB White & Company on Broad Street and helped open the store at the National Hills location where she later retired. Mrs. Turbyfill was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church and was a den mother for pack 50 of the Cub Scouts. Her whole life was dedicated to her family.
Mrs. Turbyfill is preceded in death by her husband: the late Robert R. Turbyfill Sr.
Family members include sons: Robert R.Turbyfill Jr. of Augusta, Charles L. Turbyfill (Beverly) of Evans; grandchildren: Robert R. Turbyfill III, James C. Turbyfill, Laura Turbyfill Yaekel (Jeremy), Amelia (Amy) Turbyfill, Mary Lane Turbyfill, R. Walker Turbyfill, and three great grandchildren; sisters: Gloria Ford Barfield, Mary Ford Dunn. She is predeceased by daughter in law: Ann Chafee Turbyfill and parents: Charlie and Ruby Ford of Catawba SC. Mrs. Turbyfill is predeceased by sister: Katherine Ford Sturgis and brother Raymond Ford.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 23, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. in Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating.
