Obituary

Mr. Charles Ficaro, “Blackie” age 88 of Medford, formerly of Boston’s North End died Tuesday in the Hunt Nursing Home Danvers. He was the husband of Irene (Bramante) Ficaro with whom he shared more than 20 years of marriage. He was also the husband of the late Olivia (Romano) Ficaro. Mr. Ficaro was born and educated in Boston, the son of the late Leonardo and Giovanna (Ciuffa) Ficara. In earlier years he worked as a Fish Packer. Blackie, as he was affectionately known was a life member of the Ansonia Council Knights of Columbus in the North End. He also enjoyed swimming, dancing and walks.
He is survived by a daughter, Joanne Lauria and her husband John of Andover. Beloved grandfather of Janell and Nicole Lauria, Richard and Christopher LaVerde. Brother of Antoinette Scola of Everett, Anna Provenzano of Revere, Jack Ficaro and his wife Marie of Winthrop and the late Mary Tortorici, Steven and Nicholas Ficaro. He will be sadly missed by Irene’s children, Domenic Bramante and Debra LaVerde. Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main Street Medford on Friday at 8 am
Followed by a funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church Malden at 9 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday from 4 thru 8 pm. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers contributions in Blackie’s name may be sent to the Boston Catholic Television Center 55 Chapel St. P.O. Box 9109, Newtonville MA. 02158 or to the Children’s Hospital in Boston.
