Delano “Del” D. Nickelson, 57, of Tifton died Tuesday, July 20, 2010, in Tifton. Memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2010, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Friends will give eulogies. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. prior to the service in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Del was born on March 27, 1953 in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama and was the son of Henry Claude and Dorothy Nickelson, both deceased. Del served his country for 30 years, which includes twelve years of active duty in the United States Army and 18 years with the Federal Aviation Administration. He lived his life for his family and friends; riding his Harley, golf and Alabama football. He had lived in Tifton for 20 years.
Del is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dolores Nickelson; two sons, Chase and Austin Nickelson; and one daughter, Amber Nickelson; two grandchildren, Allie and Jackson; three brothers, Gary, Randy and Nathan; and five sisters, Diane Miller, Claudette Camp, Joey Barron, Paula Russell and Faye Owens.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Del’s memory to Autism Speaks, GA Regional Office, 3301 Buckeye Road, Suite 102, Atlanta, GA 30341.
