Robert F. O'Brien, 79, of Marion died November 16, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was the husband of Jeanne A. (Kelley) O'Brien, to whom he was married to for 52 years.
Mr. O'Brien was born and raised in Boston, the son of the late Patrick J. and Alice V. (Sheedy) O'Brien. He lived the past 42 years in Marion.
Mr. O'Brien served as Port Director of U.S. Customs in New Bedford from 1969 until his retirement in 1989, culminating his career in U.S. Government service spanning over 60 years.
Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, Robert "O'Bie" O'Brien of Fairhaven, Michael P. O'Brien, and his wife Lois, of Mattapoisett, and John C. O'Brien, and his wife Rhonda "Kitt", of Annapolis, MD; 7 grandchildren, Kevin, Stephen, Patrick, Charlie, Ryan, Carly and Gracie; and a brother, Edmund C. O'Brien of Pittsfield, NH.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Thursday, November 20th at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Wednesday, November 19th from 4-7 PM.
Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Marion.
