Matthew J. "Pun" Alves, 18, of New Bedford died November 15, 2003 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was the son of Donna M. (Alves) Mattos of New Bedford and the late Joseph Mattos.
Matthew was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford for all of his life.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Fairhaven.
He enjoyed cars, motorcycles and hanging out with his friends at the pool hall.
Survivors include his mother; his good friend, Katie Cote of Acushnet; a sister, Jessica Mattos of New Bedford; his grandparents, Beverly Alves, and James and Vilma Knox, all of New Bedford; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many good friends.
