PLAISTOW, NH: Victorine A. (St. Onge) Etter, 89, formerly of Haverhill, died Sunday, October 11, 2009 at her daughter's residence. She was the wife of the late Ron E. Etter, who died in December of 1986.
Born in Haverhill on January 18, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Albertine (Houle) St. Onge. She was a graduate of the Mt. Auburn Nursing School class of 1942.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, she served our country as a registered nurse from 1948 until 1953.
She had resided in Lake Forest Illinois, before returning to Haverhill in 1970. Mrs. Etter was employed at numerous facilities including Lake Forest Hospital, Pentucket Manor, and Whittier Rehabilitation Center, having retired in 1989.
She loved line dancing, knitting, crocheting and crossword puzzles and dining out with her friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her three daughters, Gwen, wife of Steve Whitmarsh of Burke, VA, Karen, wife of Kevin Carney of Andover, Gayle, wife of Michael Hamel of Plaistow, NH, two sons, Wayne, husband of Susan Etter of Champaign, IL and Ron Etter of Beverly, two daughters-in-law, Kathy Fortunato of Beverly and Trish Etter of Merrimac; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her son, Bruce Etter.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church on Wednesday morning at11 a.m.Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Rd., Exeter, NH 03833.
