Obituary

BRADFORD: Norman J. Pare, 85, died Monday, September 14, 2009 in the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center in Haverhill. He was the husband of Marion E. (Coogan) Pare with whom he shared fifty-eight years of marriage.

Born in Haverhill on October 6, 1923, he was the son of the late Euclid J. and Anna (Phaneuf)
Pare. He was a graduate of Haverhill High School class of 1941 and Burdett College class of 1947 receiving high honors.

Norman proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II from 1943 to 1946 at his time of honorable discharge he held the rank of Acting First Sergeant. During his service he spent twenty-four months overseas in the South Pacific and China Campaigns in Peleliu and Okinawa. He received the Purple Heart, and two Presidential Citations.

He was employed for forty years at the Colonial Quality Meat Company in Boston as Vice-President and General Manager until his retirement in 1991. Norman was the Haverhill Recreation Commissioner for twenty-six years, a member of the Bradford Country Club and Crystal Springs Golf Club and a parishioner at the Sacred Hearts Church in Bradford. His family was the most important of all to him he will be missed by them very much.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his two sons and daughter-in-law, Neil J. Pare of Windham, NH, Brian J. and his wife, Pam Pare of Seattle, WA, a daughter and son-in-law, Christine A. and her husband, Steve Tomichek of Waterford, CT, three grandsons, Nicholas Gauthier of New Haven, CT, Joe and Sam Pare of Seattle, WA and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his two brothers, Albert and John Pare.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday in the Sacred Hearts Church, S. Main St., Bradford at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 52 Salem Street, Bradford from 4 - 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, c/o Sacred Hearts Church, 48 S.
