BRADFORD: Brian J. Fitzgerald, 55, died unexpectedly Saturday, August 29, 2009 at his home.
Born in Haverhill on November 3, 1953 he was the son of the late Paul A. and Catherine H. (Furber) Fitzgerald. A lifelong resident of Haverhill, he attended Haverhill public schools and the John T. Berry School in North Reading.
Brian worked as a groundskeeper for many years at the Northern Essex Community College. He was a former Cub Scout and Boy Scout and enjoyed bike riding, camping and taking day trips. He recently had a memorable trip to Disney World with the D'Orazio family.
He is survived by two sisters, Sheila F. and her husband, Robert J. Haynes of Byfield and Patricia A. and her husband, Frederick P. Barrett of Methuen and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his brother, Paul A. Fitzgerald, Jr. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Sandra D'Orazio and her family for the many years of care and support of Brian.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday in St. John the Baptist Church, Lincoln Ave., Haverhill at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill from 4 - 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Assoc., 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210. Interment will be held in the Walnut Cemetery in Haverhill.
