BRADFORD: Derrice I. (Day) Valente, 83, died Thursday, August 20, 2009 in the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.
Born in Melbourne, Australia on January 10, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Christopher and Gladys Day. Derrice came to America in 1947 and has resided in Bradford for over forty years.
Derrice was employed for many years as a seamstress at the former Hooker-Howe Costume Company in Bradford. She more recently worked at the Stevens-Bennett Home in Haverhill for several years.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna Valente of North Andover, a sister, Joyce Shepherd of Cremorne, Sydney, Australia, several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She was also predeceased by her son, Ronald Valente, her twin sister, Shirley Davidson and two brothers, Maxwell and Ronald Day.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 - 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
