Obituary

BRADFORD: Attorney Lisa A. Nahil, 51, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Born in Haverhill on December 18, 1957, she was the beloved daughter of Jimetta C. (Najam) Nahil of Haverhill and the late Dr. Fred J. Nahil. She was a graduate of Pentucket Regional High School class of 1974 and Bradford College class of 1980. Lisa also received a B.A. degree from Merrimac College in 1993 and her J.D. degree from Suffolk Law School in 1997.

Lisa had a private practice in Groveland, specializing in estate planning, trust litigation, elder law and residential real estate. She served the Groveland, Haverhill, Merrimac, Georgetown, West Newbury and Newburyport area. She was a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Massachusetts Chapter of National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys as well as the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Haverhill Bar Association, where she served on the Executive Board. Lisa spoke extensively at the Groveland, Georgetown and Merrimac Council of Aging, regarding estate planning and elder law. She was also very active in providing food for the Groveland Council on Aging.

She was a member of the Haverhill Chamber of Commerce and recently served as a Past Co-Chair of the Groveland Historical Commission. Active in the Spar and Spindle Girl Scout Council, she was a former member of the Board of Directors, Past Vice-President and Past Co-Chair of the Girl Scout Cookie Delight fund raiser. She enjoyed reading, playing tennis, skiing and gardening, where she was the recent winner of the Haverhill Garden of the Month.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a brother, Ted and his wife, Terry Nahil of Port Saint Lucie, FL, a sister, Lorna Ann Nahil of Holly Springs, NC, a niece, Kristen Register and her husband, David of Fort Pierce, FL, a nephew, Jonathan Nahil and his wife, Jamie of Highlands Ranch, CO and a large, loving family and many devoted friends.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday in the St. John the Baptist Church, Lincoln Avenue, Haverhill at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill from 2 - 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to The Groveland Council on Aging, 183 Main St., Groveland, MA 01834. Interment will be held in the United Lebanese Cemetery in Lawrence.
