GROVELAND: Lawrence K. Kelley, Jr., 89, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 in the Seaview Retreat Nursing Home in Rowley. He was the husband of the late Honor G. (Kelley) Kelley who died in May 2005.
Born in Peabody on January 12, 1920, he was the son of the late Dr. Lawrence K. and Mary (Reynolds) Kelley. He had resided in Tewksbury for many years before moving to Groveland twenty-five years ago. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was honorably discharged on March 9, 1946.
Mr. Kelley was employed as an electrical dispatcher at the New England Power Company in Salem for thirty-five years before his retirement in 1985. He was also a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Groveland.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan H. and Geoffrey L. Winn of Rowley and Kathleen K. and Michael D. Baird of Lostine, Oregon, a son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence K., III and Barbara (McNeil) Kelley of Groveland, five grandchildren, Jennifer McGrath of Salem, Geoffrey Winn, Jr. of Rowley and Rial, Caitlin and Patrick Baird all of Oregon, two great-grandchildren Jack and Joe McGrath and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Scannell. He was a devoted family
man and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday in St. Patrick's Church, 114 Center St., Groveland at 12 noon. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 52 Salem Street, Bradford from 6 - 9 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Tewksbury Cemetery.
