Mr. William E. Keel, Jr.
Augusta, GA---Mr. William E. “Willie” Keel, Jr., 86, entered into rest on Monday, July 19, 2010 at University Hospital.
Graveside services and interment will be held, at 11:00 am, tomorrow Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Westover Memorial Park with Dr. Kenneth Word officiating.
Mr. Keel was a native of Augusta. He retired from Modern Roofing Company, after 40 years service, as a sheet metal worker. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Navy, as gunners mate, second class. He was a life member of American Legion Post 63, where he was a past Commander and at the time of his death was Junior Vice Commander. He was also a life member of the International American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Marie Keel, son, Larry Edward Keel, step-son, Walter J. Taylor and step-daughter, Dorothy Foster.
He is survived by his daughters, Beth Powell (Billy) of Beech Island, SC and Becky Abrahamson of North Augusta, SC, step-daughter, Juanita Todd of Augusta, GA, two daughters in law, Kitty Taylor and Pat Keel and eight grandchildren, Larry E, Keel, Jr., Kimberly Ashley, Wanda Quarles, Tommy Shirey, James Taylor, Joni Nobles, Jennifer Daniels and Elizabeth Weeks and several great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends, this evening Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
