Elizabeth M. (McCusker) Prime, age 90, a lifelong resident of Groveland, died Thursday evening, October 9, 2008, at the Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport.
Mrs. Prime was born in Groveland on November 19, 1917, the daughter of the late John P. and Catherine A. (Long) McCusker. She was educated in Groveland schools, and was graduated from Groveland High School, Class of 1935.
She began her career with New England Telephone Co. in the Haverhill District Office. She then worked for the former Western Electric Co., Lucent Technologies, Inc. North Andover, for 32 years until her retirement in 1979.
She was married for almost 65 years to the late William G. Prime, Sr., who died June 13, 2003.
During retirement she and her husband enjoyed traveling, especially vacationing in Florida. She also enjoyed bowling and was an avid Boston sports fan who loved following the Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins. Most importantly, she was a longtime proud member of the Groveland Democratic Town Committee and volunteered for many years during elections in Groveland as a poll worker.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, South Groveland, since the Church was established in 1946.
She is survived by her son, William "Jerry" Prime, Jr. and his wife Julie H. of Groveland; grandson, Matthew W. Prime of Manchester, NH; sister, Helen G. Fenlon, of Haverhill; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held Tuesday, October 14, from the C. Frank Linnehan and Son Haverhill Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill, at 9:30 a.m. There will be a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick Church of Sacred Hearts Parish, 114 Center Street, South Groveland, at 10:30 a.m. Interment to be held in Riverview Cemetery, Main Street, Groveland.
Calling hours Monday, October 13, in the C. Frank Linnehan and Son Haverhill Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
