Ms. Maggie Rhodes Kirkland, age 71, of Nicholls GA passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at her home. Mrs. Kirkland, native of Jeff Davis County, GA was born September 22, 1938; She is the daughter of the late Joe Brown & Clara Mae Wright Rhodes. She is the widow of the late James Creighton Kirkland and was a retired registered nurse with Coffee Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Saginaw Baptist Church with Rev. L. G. Aldridge and Rev. Donnie Kirkland officiating. The Saginaw Church Choir sang, “Sweet Hour Of Prayer” and “Eastern Gate” with Iris McElhaney, Pianist accompanying; also, Ashley Davis, Steve Kirkland Darlene Fesperman & Iris McElhaney sang, Burial followed in the Kirkland Family Cemetery near Douglas GA. Active pallbearers were: Glen Wilson, Delnee Wilcox, Kelnee Wilcox, Rob Harrell, Steve Kirkland and Howell Stevens, Jr. Honorary pallbearers: Ashley Davis, Johnny Heaton, Jimmy Ray “Buck” Davis, Ronnie Bennett, Mac Davis and Micky Burnam. Survivors include: Daughters, Denah F. Kirkland Skipper, Plano TX and Robin T. Kirkland Stevens, Nicholls GA, Sister, Myrna Rhodes, Douglas GA and several cousins.Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
