Cecil A. Tyler, Jr., 76

…of Lowell, WWII Navy Veteran, Jet Maintenance Instructor…

LOWELL: Cecil A. Tyler, Jr. age 76, a resident of the Belvidere section of the City for over 40 years, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 13th 2003 at his home.

He was the husband of Betty L. (Tomlin) who died July 30, 1999.

Born in South Paris, Maine on December 12, 1926, he was the son of the late Cecil A. Tyler, Sr. and Thelma (Burgess) Tyler.

Mr. Tyler was raised in South Paris, Maine. He attended South Paris schools graduating from South Paris High School in 1943.

Following graduation he entered the military and served during World War II in the U.S. Navy.

Before moving to Lowell in 1956, he resided for several years in Billerica.

Mr. Tyler was employed for over 35 years by East Coast Aero Tech in Bedford as a jet engine maintenance instructor until his retirement in 1991.

Mr. Tyler was a former member and deacon at the Tewksbury Congregational Church. He currently attended the First Baptist Church of Tewksbury.

He enjoyed numerous activities including traveling, camping, hiking, canoeing and walking.

Mr. Tyler was active with the Lowell Cub Scout and Boy Scout Organizations. He served as Cubmaster of Pack # 35 and adult Leader for Boy Scout Troop # 6.

Mr. Tyler is survived by 1 son; David A. Tyler of Lowell; his beloved grandchildren; James A. and Danielle E. Tyler both of Shrewsbury; his dear companion; Laura MacAulay of Lowell.

Calling Monday 6-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Lung Assoc., P.O. Box 265, Burlington, MA 01803 would be appreciated.
