Ruth Collins Walker, age 88, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Yalobusha County Nursing Home in Water Valley, MS. She was born in Bay, Arkansas to the late Floyd and Minnie Bell Bailey Collins. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking. Ms. Walker was a Food Service Supervisor at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis and was involved in many capacities of food service. She was a member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church.
A visitation will be held Sunday, July 11, 2010 from 12:00 Noon until service time at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. The service will begin at 2:00 PM with Bro. James West officiating. Burial will take place at Walker Cemetery in Yalobusha County with Lynn Walker, Randy Walker, Benny Collins, Andy Morris and Jerry Gardiner serving as pallbearers
Ms. Ruth is survived by one daughter, Barbara Hall of Nesbit, MS; two sons, Bailey (Linda) Walker and Richard (Malinda) Walker of Water Valley, MS; one sister, Mildred Person of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren, Debbie (Dalton) Rogers, Steve (Lynne) Walker, Shane Walker, Melanie (Carl) Ziegenmeyer, Jeff Walker, Sharla (Jeff) Lipscomb, and Aimee Becklin; eleven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Walker in 1990; a son-in-law, Sam Hall, a sister, Pearl Holland; and three brothers, Earl Collins, Everett Collins, and Q.T. Collins.
