Obituary

NORTH GROSVENORDALE, CT - Richard John Fierro, 69, of Reardon Road, North Grosvenordale and a longtime resident of Webster, Massachusetts, died Wednesday, July 7th, 2010.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Simone; three sons, Joel James Fierro of North Grosvenordale, Richard Lucien Fierro of Greenbackville, Virginia and Mark Kevin Fierro of Andover, New York. He also leaves 7 grandchildren: Lauren, Dillan, Anthony, Richard, Nicholas, Ronnie and Dominic; and 3 great grandchildren.

His main focus in life was to be the best husband and father that was possible, and this is where he directed the majority of his efforts.

He was a graduate of St. Louis High School in Webster, where he was selected as the representative to Boys State, a legislative simulation group consisting of only the top students from each participating district or school.

He completed his apprenticeship at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in tool and die manufacturing. He retired from Ivanhoe Tool and Die in 2004 after 37 years of service as a master tool and die maker and department supervisor.

His volunteer civic duties were numerous and varied. He served as the scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #171, as a Eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Webster, as well as a lector and as chairman of the liturgy committee.

Funeral services will be private as he wished. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the donor’s local ASPCA. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, MA.
