Mary "Jean" Osborne-Eaton, 72, of Douglas and Tifton died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at her residence in Douglas. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, 2010, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Donnie Wright and Rev. Shelton Smith will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. David Eaton, Kenny Eaton, Bruce Eaton, Michael Goodman, Jason Jewell, Will Giddens, Todd Bradford and Greg Harrell will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Jones, Carl Swift, Larry Bass, Homer Williams, Frank Hutchison and Paul Hutchison. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 10, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Eaton was born on October 3, 1937 in Tift County and was the daughter of Dorsey Goodman and Mildred Hogan Goodman, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles “Buddy” Goodman. She was a homemaker and a retired nurse and car salesperson. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church in Douglas.
Mrs. Eaton is survived by her husband, Melvin “Bo” Eaton of Tifton; two sons, Danny Ray Carter of Douglas and Steve Causey of Douglas; three daughters and one son-in-law, Diann and W. H. Ward of Monks Corner, South Carolina, Stephanie Causey of Douglas and Dawn Worrell of Tifton; one step-daughter, Karen Layfield of Tifton; four step-sons, Richard Eaton of North Carolina, Kenny Eaton, David Eaton and Bruce Eaton, all of Tifton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Hugh McCord of Vidalia and Mary Alice and Laferrell Salter of Ty Ty; ten grandchildren, Maria, Adam, Benji, Randi, Shelby, Lily, Amanda, Dan, Hartley, and Jake; 10 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and 14 step-grandchildren, Ricky, Tim, Laura, Leigh Ann, Kenny Jr., Dustin, Brittany, Autumn, Summer, Jamie, Sam, Charley, Brooke and Ansley.
