Paul Jones Wellborn, Jr., 88, of Lake Alfred, Florida went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, in Lake Alfred, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Pineview Holiness Baptist Church. Rev. Silas Carver will officiate with burial to follow in Pineview Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 9, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Wellborn was born on April 23, 1922 in Meehan, Mississippi and was the son of Paul Jones Wellborn, Sr. and Mary Lou Harrison Wellborn, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Reba Sanders Wellborn, who died in 2007, and three sisters. Paul served in the United States Army in both World War II and the Korean War. He was retired from Central Florida Gas Company and was a member of the Lake Alfred Baptist Church. He was a kind and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, employee and friend but, most of all, he was a man of God and he lived that way every day.
Mr. Wellborn is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Sandy Wellborn of Lake Alfred, Florida; one daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Douglas Applegarth of Lake Alfred, Florida; six grandchildren, Douglas Craig, Donald Paul, Desirea, Jennifer, Jarrod and Justin; two great grandchildren; one sister, Eula Mac Moles; and two sisters-in-law, Anna Laura Sanders of Tifton and Charlene Sanders of Americus.
