Obituary

Kathryn (Dalton) Vickers, of Duxbury, formerly of Boston, died July 5, 2010, at the Golden Living Center Nursing Home - Oak Hill, Middleboro after a long illness.

Born in Boston, MA, Kathryn was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Griffin) Dalton. Kathryn grew up in Dorchester and attended school there. She graduated from Carney Hospital as a registered nurse in 1944, and married in 1947.

During her life she worked as a nurse in various hospitals, and was a private caregiver. She always tried to help the people she came in contact with.

She was the wife of the late Edward C. Vickers. She leaves her sons James Vickers of Plymouth, John Vickers of Duxbury, Edward Vickers of Kingston; her daughtersMartha Burak of Easton, Katie Kane of Lakeville, her twelve grandchildren; her sister Mary Norton of Duxbury, and many friends. She joins her deceased daughter, Loretta Vickers, brother Jackie Dalton and sister Ann Dalton.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 8th from 4-7:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church in Duxbury on Friday, July 9th at 10:00 AM. Internment will be at the Mayflower cemetery in Duxbury. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Massachusetts Alzheimers Association, 311 Arsenal St, Watertown, MA 02472.
